How to choose a control paddle

Go thick on the core

Look for 16mm or 17mm. That thickness is what absorbs pace and gives you touch on a reset. A thin 14mm core is the opposite — poppy and powerful, but harder to control softly.

A standard or wide-body shape helps

A bigger sweet spot makes soft, precise contact more repeatable. A wide-body like the Onix Z5 is forgiving on a delicate dink; an elongated power shape is less so.

Control rewards practice more than any paddle
